Best in Show for 'Memories No2' at the Open 2008 BiennaleThe exhibition was supported by Birmingham Museum and Wolverhampton Art Gallery and presented me with a perfect 'end of the year present' in 1st prize for the installation 'Memories No2' . It was first exhibited in Germany and it made me quite nervous to install it again.. Each glass cane needed a perfect position for the projection. I dare not to count them... It takes time and above all a lot of trust from the part of the gallery towards the artist. I would like to thank curator Kate Prior-Williams and photographer Robert Billingham for selecting my installation among the 750 entries. |

teaching in GermanyBild-Werk Frauenau Academie in the wonderful open German county of Bavaria will see me holding a summer course on 'Site Specific Installation Art' from 6th to 22nd of August, working with students in our installation barn studio and running loads of 'guerrilla lighting projects' around the town in search of light and inspiration. We will work with glass and light imagery that we will create on site primarily in the video / digital photography format. Our main brief will be to establish relationships within our space through the installation interventions. We will have loads of time to discuss our projects, to experiment but also to realize how important is detailed planning and that precise execution and detail is vital in achieving the correct intended effect of any installation work.As presupposed for a good summer art school, you can expect high atmosphere, tons of creative sparks, hard? work and to learn more than you've imagined... (about yourself, how to perceive the space, how does art fit into it all, the moving light of film, the essence of glass, light and emotions...). The course is intended for the experienced artists as well as for those only wanting to experiment with new ideas. To find out more please contact me by email sabina@roughandrefined.com, for information how to get there please go to www.bild-werk-frauenau.de |
