background

I was born in Slovenia and was educated there and in England. I trained in film and anthropology following which I travelled extensively in Europe and overseas where I lived and worked. Having spent part of my early career researching subculture and minority groups of Slovenia, I was already familiar with the stories of Gipsy travellers before I eventually dedicated several years filming and creatively collaborating on projects particularly focusing on groups in Eastern Europe and in France.
Another passion - glass - was discovered in a chance meeting with a renowned Turkish stained glass artist Hassan Safkan. I was taught the master craft of glass making in his studio. The world of film and glass find their common language in my current art installations. In England I established myself as a partner in a video-design-new media company in London, and later received another degree, this time in glass and sculpture.
My artworks show an acute sensibility and interest for space, light and stories from life. Informed by distinctive east-west perspectives I aim to create installations that draw on the emotional responses to the experience of space through light, moving images and sound. Keen observation and knowledge of people have brought a depth of vision to my subject's stories. My work is shown in galleries, site-specific places and public art applications.
